To use PICTshow, you will need a color capable Macintosh running under system 7.0 or greater, with a 13" or larger monitor, and at least 4 MB of available RAM.
Quick Start
We have provided a ready-to-run slideshow of the 8-bit PICT images for your convenience.
Double-clicking on "Boris Slideshow" will automatically launch PICTshow and load in all the "play data." Simply press the "Return" key or click on the Show button and the slideshow will begin. Be patient ΓÇö some of the files are large and may take a while to load. Type Command-Period when you want to end the slideshow. You may have to do this a couple of times for the slideshow to stop.
Experiment with the delay to find the optimal setting for your system.
Remember ΓÇö PICTshow only works with PICT images, the 24-bit TIFF images cannot be viewed as a slideshow.
Large Monitors
If you are using a monitor that is larger than 14", you may need to allocate more memory to PICTshow. To do this, first copy the application onto your hard drive. Click once on the application icon, and type Command-I. You will now see a dialog box appear that provides information on when the application was created, how large it is, etc. At the bottom of this window will be a box with the words "Preferred Size" next to it, and the number "6500" in it. This is the amount of RAM in Kilobytes that the program "wants" when it is launched. By increasing this number, you are increasing the program's memory allocation.
